How To Act: Boot Camp is a five-day intensive for working actors looking to build their screen acting toolkits and nail self-tapes.
Across five half-day sessions, you’ll train inside a tightly structured, practical programme that teaches screen acting technique for auditions, self-tapes and professional sets. In a generous and supportive environment, you’ll rehearse scenes off camera, put work down on tape between sessions and receive direct, practical feedback on what’s working and what can be improved.
Each day builds a different part of your working toolkit, so by the end of the week you’re not just more confident, you’re ready to work with sharper craft and a clearer understanding of how to act effectively on screen.
Day 1 - Textual Analysis
Learn practical approaches to breaking down screen material, uncovering what is on the page and how to bring it to life with clarity and precision.
Day 2 - Screen Duologues
Work in pairs on duologues appropriate to your casting, exploring connection, listening and truthful exchange on screen.
Day 3 - Non-Verbal Scenes
Discover the power of what is unsaid. Through target work, sharpen your confidence in action-led, non-verbal scenes.
Day 4 - Preparing To Shoot
Prepare scenes as you would for a professional shoot, refining choices, adjusting for camera and learning how to arrive on set ready to do your best work.
Day 5 - Mock Casting Auditions
Put everything into practice in a mock casting audition, working in person with a professional casting director who will provide feedback.
To participate you must be over eighteen and have at least one professional acting credit. Classes are limited to twelve actors. All bookings are non-refundable and non-transferable.

How To Act: On Camera is a five-day intensive for working actors looking to develop their screen acting and get comfortable on camera.
Across five half-day sessions, you’ll work in a focused, workshop environment with professional camera equipment. Each day centres on a new scene, giving you the space to properly apply, test and deepen the tools introduced at How To Act: Boot Camp through sustained, practical work.
This is not about creating showreel material. The focus is on craft. On experimenting, refining and developing the level of precision required to achieve excellence on screen. You’ll interrogate and adjust your work in real time, building a sharper understanding of what actually translates on camera and why. Expect direct, detailed direction, and the space to take risks, make bold choices and sharpen your instincts under pressure.
Day 1 - The Camera & You
Get comfortable on camera through practical exercises that help you understand your natural presence and how it translates to screen.
Day 2 - Textual Analysis
Develop practical approaches to breaking down screen material, making playable choices and translating what’s on the page into truthful performance.
Day 3 - Drama
Put your screen acting toolkit into practice with dramatic material, exploring connection, listening, intention and emotional truth through detailed direction.
Day 4 - Comedy
Explore the demands of comedy on camera, experimenting with timing, rhythm, listening and restraint to make bold choices without pushing for the joke.
Day 5 - Genre
Explore how different genres change your approach to performance, working with tone, stakes, physicality and precision across different screen worlds.

How To Act: Scene Study is a monthly evening class for working actors looking to keep their screen acting fresh.

How To Act: One-To-One is personalised private coaching.
One-to-one sessions with Acting Coach Andrew Whyment are open to actors of any age and experience preparing for self-tapes, casting auditions and roles. Sessions can be held in-person or online.
Training blocks - typically five or ten hour-long sessions - are available for actors who want to sharpen their craft through focused, bespoke sessions. These blocks are designed to build confidence, range and consistency over time. Each block is fully personalised: in the first session we set clear goals together and create a tailored syllabus, selecting material that suits your objectives.
